This Life From the heart

Why You Should Beat your Family Up

morningroutine+ mom mornings+ waking up before your kids

I bet you are thinking, “This lady is crazy!” That is the exact thing I was thinking a few years ago when I was in a church small group and one lady said, “Well I personally think we should all be beating our family up!” She said it that way to get our attention and show us the importance of this and boy did she!! She didn’t mean physically beat them up of course. What she meant by you should beat your family up is that you should wake up before them in the morning. I’m sure you are feeling a little relieved now that this is all I mean by this.

I wasn’t quite sure how this would help me so much because mornings were pretty easy for me-or so I thought. Then I started to realize that most of my days were beginning with lots of stress actually or laziness. We either began the hustle and bustle of the day right away or we were just pretty lazy for hours on end. And I don’t know about y’all but being woken up out of a dead sleep and immediately taking on the responsibilities that the day calls for is definitely not how I want to start my day. So, I decided that I needed to give this whole waking up early thing a try. Luckily, now I can say beating my family up has changed my life!

It is so important to be able to wake up and determine for yourself how your day will begin rather than your children waking you up and determining it for you. If you wake up with kids asking for this, that, and everything else, it is very likely that you will be stressed out before you even have a chance to think straight, for me anyways.

This is how I began my mornings for quite awhile and I can honestly say it has helped me so much with my attitude and perspective throughout the day. I of course have hard days that get the best of me, but who doesn’t?

Now I wake up thirty minutes to an hour before my family does and spend the very beginning of my day with the Lord. I cannot tell you how much of a difference giving my first to God every day has made for me and my life. I am also able to drink some coffee in peace and get myself ready for the day while listening to some worship music. Sometimes I may even get a workout in….ALL before my daughter is even awake! I can promise you will never regret waking up and taking time for yourself first thing in the morning.

I hope you think about how you can start your day off better by “beating your family up!”

I promise you that extra 30 minutes to an hour of sleep is not as good as the positive perspective you will now have throughout your whole day! Plus when you get up you can get some precious snuggles with your babe in these matching pajamas from Leveret.

Please let me know the difference it makes in your life when you try it!
