Weekend Trip to Gatlinburg
Since it is so close to our trip to The Smoky Mountains this year I wanted to share with y’all a little about the trip my husband and I took last year to Gatlinburg. This was our very first trip we took without our little girl so it was a bit of an adjustment the first day but we definitely enjoyed every minute of the alone time! We had so much fun taking some time to relax in our cabin on this trip, which if you know me, sometimes relaxing can be a very hard task! Some relaxation is just what we needed after a busy week before and the view we had made it that much better! We also enjoyed spending some time in the mountains and around town. Gatlinburg is such a romantic city filled with so many things to do. It can definitely be a fun family spot or a romantic spot for just the two of you! This year we are taking Emersyn so stay tuned for all the info on fun family things to do here!
We stayed at an American Patriot Getaways cabin called "All That Jazz" and it definitely did not disappoint! It was such a great cabin for the two of us and had everything we could possibly need! The view from the cabin was absolutely breathtaking. Right when we woke up we could open the door to see endless views of the mountains. It was so relaxing just hanging out on the balconies with coffee in hand taking in all of God's beauty.
The first day there we decided that after a day of traveling we would just go walk around the downtown area an easy dinner. We decided to go to the Smoky Mountain Brewery and get some wings and pizza, because well we just deserved some comfort food after a long day. We enjoyed a flight of beer and loved their seasonal beer and the Helles beer.
The next morning we woke up and went to the Apple Barn to enjoy some of my favorite apple cider and cinnamon apple donuts! We of course spent some time just looking around and did some gift shopping also. My dad has always loved the apple butter and apple fritters so I got him a little happy to bring home to him as a thanks for watching our little one!
After that ,we went to Anakeesta, a new place on the strip in Gatlinburg. You take a chondola up which offers amazing views and once you are up there, there are so many things to do.
We decided to grab some lunch first at the Summit Smokehouse and enjoy a beer from the micro brewery they had. It was delicious to say the least. We were able to sit on rocking chairs and eat with the most beautiful views from the top of the mountain.
We did the tree canopy walk, the memorial walk from the fire there last year (which was amazing especially for my firefighter husband), and did a little shopping before we decided to relax around the beautiful fire pit they had there.
The next day we spend lots of time touring Cades Cove where we saw THREE bears!! It was such a fun thing to see them living in the wild. We also got to tour all of the older houses, churches, and cemeteries. It was a great experience and had wonderful views. Next trip we take there we will plan to have a picnic at the foot of the mountain. Talk about romantic..
We cant forget the family favorite, The Old Mill. I went to Gatlinburg growing up pretty often and The Old Mill was always our favorite place to go for breakfast. It was so much fun introducing this tradition to Adam and planning to make it a continuing tradition for our family!
We had such a great trip to the Smokies! If you ever get a chance you should definitely go.
Where is your favorite place to vacation just you and your spouse? We would love to try some new places out!
